Mekong Cycling: Day 4 Bung Khla - Bueng Khan - Nakhon Phanom
After a rather stormy night, we packed up, left the key in the lock, and departed the resort at the crack of dawn.

As expected there were no staff around to wave us goodbye ;-)
We could cycle on a nice B-road for the first hour or so but then we had no choice; hit the highway to Bueng Khan.

Along the way, we noticed a colorful truck parked halfway across the road and decided to have a closer look. Initially we thought of tiny Roswell Alien body bags...

However the colorful bags' sickly smell gave their 'secrets' quickly away...

We'd stumbled on a rubber collection center!
Shortly afterwards we hit Highway 212, a mainly 2-lane, sometimes 4, with a few ups and downs, plus more cars and trucks, not exactly a pleasant ride.

We were glad to arrive after 50 km cycling in Bueng Khan and went straight to the Bus Terminal to buy tickets.
Our bicycles were no problem at all, just a pay a little extra.

This mid-sized bus was perfect for storing our bikes.

Although I guess we hadn't expected they'd be just loaded up front like that!

Upon arriving at Nakhon Phanom we went separate ways, Tim to Mukdahan and I back to Bangkok.
We both considered our trip pretty successful!
This time I had a large double-deck bus and my bike ended up underneath in the luggage storage, all good!
