Buriram By Bike - part 3

On my last day I still had some time to explore the area before catching the afternoon bus from Nang Rong back to Bangkok.

Wat Khao Phra Angkkam reflection

After coffee I set off on another typical B-road for another unusual temple...

Fact is most of Buriram's attractions concern temples!

Along the way, I passed a cow farm and took this shot.

Not that special you'd think but ever after after seeing that hilarious Gary Larsson cartoon I always wonder... (*)

Huge reclining Buddha on an extremely uncomfortable looking pillow...

An hour later, I'd reached my destination, Wat Khao Phra Angkkan, built in 1977 on top of an extinct volcano.

As you can see this temple is visually highly attractive.

Some of the other buildings in the compound were interesting as well.

As a ceremony was in session, I kept my distance.

The fact that I was getting tired of taking off my shoes for the umpteenth time might have something to do with this decision as well...

Although a bit lacking in 'maintenance' the temple has a lot to offer.

Including a viewpoint.

Modern murals inside.

Very different from your average Thai temple!

Ancient sema (boundary) stone with a Buddha bas-relief.

On the way back I passed a quarry and engaged in a 'Battle of the Beasts' which didn't last very long...

Back at the resort, I packed my meager belongings, checked out, said goodbye to the resort's staff, and cycled to Nang Rong.

Like more than a few Thai towns Nang Rong too has distinctive street signs.

I found a funky coffee place and had an excellent Iced Orange Espresso!

My faithful B-Twin ended up folded in the luggage storage.

And for once I had a comfy seat with plenty of leg space, a good way to end my 3-day Buriram trip!

(*) Classic Gary Larson!
