Back In The Low Countries: Buren

One of my first trips I made with my sister during my annual trip tot he Netherlands was to the medieval town of Buren.

With only just over 2000 inhabitants it’s a rather small place but with a huge well-preserved historical past!

The ancient Sint Lambertus church towers above the village.

Fascinating entrance...

The weather was tricky that day, but for once it stayed dry .

A decorative tile I noticed in a contemporary art gallery, easily the most interesting artistic item there.

The influence of the Roman Catholic church is still strong here...

Excellent craftmanship!

Road art?

Lots of houses are decorated with flowers.

Over 2 centuries old, the Prins van Oranje windmill is still in active use!

The town boasts quite a few ateliers / art centers!

We never went for a cup of tea there, despite this strong recommendation...

Praise the Lord... Nah, don't bother!

Another intriguing door...

A funny chicken seemed the right way to finish this blog post!
